Madrid, 19 May 2022.
ARQUIMEA and Aena will extend the COVID-19 test centres management contract at Aena network airports. This renewal, which includes 17 centres “INTENDED FOR PERFORMANCE OF INFECTION DIAGNOSTIC TESTS FOR SARS‐COV‐2 AND OTHER CLINICAL TESTS” will be extended up to 31 December.
ARQUIMEA, a technology company that operates globally in highly demanding sectors, was awarded the first contract in March 2021 with Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, Málaga-Costa del Sol, Seville and Jerez airports. In December 2021, it was awarded the three new tenders called by Aena for the management of 17 centres up to 30 June 2022, to which the airports of Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, Reus, Girona-Costa Brava, Santiago-Rosalía de Castro, Bilbao and the Canarian airports were added.
Aena has decided to extend the contract implemented by more than 130 workers up to the end of the year, which will allow it to deal with the increase in travel during the holiday period in the summer months, offering the passengers the facility to perform COVID-19 tests at the airport. In this sense, ARQUIMEA will continue to manage under the Fly COVID Test brand the lot including the centres of Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, Málaga-Costa del Sol, Seville, Jerez, Santiago-Rosalía de Castro and Bilbao airports, through a joint venture with LabGenetics, and another 2 lots referring to centres located at the airports of Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, Reus, Girona-Costa Brava and the Canarian airports (Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de la Laguna, Tenerife Sur, Gran Canaria, César Manrique-Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and La Palma), through a joint venture with Imegen.
Since the start of the service, the Spanish technology company has performed more than 600.000 COVID-19 tests at different Spanish airports where it operates, where 62% have been antigen tests and 38% PCR tests, and has been gradually including new services to its offer:
ARQUIMEA has extensive experience in the management of COVID-19 testing services and protocols. Since the beginning of the service in March 2020, the company has performed more than one million COVID-19 tests through its different services. As well as the testing service at Aena network airports, the company has the COVID-19 Alliance service available, where it offers tests to private individuals, companies and sporting events, becoming a benchmark in the fight against COVID-19.
This contract extension will make it easier for national and international passengers to comply with all COVID-19 health protocols, during the holiday period, both for their return home and for access to destination countries.
